What this policy covers

This policy explains what information this website collects, how that information is used, who it may be shared with, and the choices available to you. It applies to the Foundation's website only.

Information the Foundation collects

Information you provide directly. When you make a donation, sign up for updates, request a broadcast, or send a message, you may provide details such as your name, email address, phone number, mailing address, organization or facility name, and the content of your message. Payment details for donations are entered directly into a secure third-party donation platform and are not stored by the Foundation.

Information collected automatically. Like most websites, this site may collect limited technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, and the date and time of your visit. This information is gathered using cookies and similar technologies.

How the Foundation uses information

  • To process donations and send receipts and acknowledgements.
  • To respond to messages, broadcast requests, and questions.
  • To send updates or newsletters when you have chosen to receive them. You can unsubscribe at any time.
  • To understand how the website is used and to improve it.
  • To meet the legal, tax, and record-keeping obligations of a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

Cookies and analytics

This site uses cookies and analytics tools [such as Google Analytics] to understand visitor activity in aggregate, for example which pages are viewed and general location. Most web browsers let you refuse or delete cookies through their settings. If the Foundation runs online advertising, advertising partners [such as Google or Meta] may also set cookies to measure how those ads perform.

How information is shared

The Foundation does not sell your personal information. Information may be shared only in these limited ways:

  • With service providers that help run the website and the Foundation's work, such as the donation platform, email service, and analytics provider, and only as needed to perform those services.
  • With authorities, auditors, or advisors when required by law or to meet the reporting obligations of a nonprofit, including any donor reporting required for charitable contributions.

Third-party services

Donations are processed through a secure third-party donation platform Green light. Payment card details are handled by that platform under its own privacy policy and security standards, not by the Foundation. Embedded forms and outbound links may take you to third-party websites that are governed by their own privacy policies.

Data retention

The Foundation keeps personal information only for as long as needed for the purposes described here, or as required by law and nonprofit record-keeping obligations, and then deletes or anonymizes it.

Children's privacy

This website is intended for donors, educators, and facility partners, not for children. The Foundation does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through this website. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please make contact so it can be removed.

Your choices

  • You can unsubscribe from emails at any time using the link in any message.
  • You can ask to see, correct, or delete the personal information the Foundation holds about you by making contact using the details below.
  • California residents have certain rights regarding their personal information. The Foundation honors reasonable requests from anyone who asks, regardless of location.

Data security

The Foundation takes reasonable steps to protect personal information. No method of transmitting or storing information online is completely secure, so absolute security cannot be guaranteed.

This policy may be updated from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top will always reflect the most recent version.
